We all know the importance of a good morning routine – the way we start the day has a HUGE impact of what sort of day we have – productive or sluggish, healthy or unhealthy. Fall is a great time to adjust your morning routine to the colder months, and to take some time to recharge and reflect before you start your day.

In this post, I’ll be sharing my perfect cozy, self care fall morning routine starting from 5am. It is absolutely not necessary to start your day at 5, nor to begin all these practices all at once. Instead, begin by picking out a couple of new habits to begin in 2019, and then gradually add more over the weeks. If you would like to, you can begin waking up a little earlier every week too, to optimise your morning routine further.

  • Get out of bed, and make your bed straight away. This is an early task which boosts mood and productivity for the rest of the day. You can decorate your bed with thick blankets and fall inspired cushions to get in the spirit of the season.
  • Make a warm drink. Drinking something warm at the start of the day boosts digestion for the day. Opt for warm water, lemon and honey or something more indulgent such as as a fall inspired coffee or hot chocolate.
  • Do half an hour of movement. Whether this is yoga, a walk or weights, the key is to get moving – this is the optimal time for exercise, and moving at this time boosts mood, productivity and wellbeing. You could go for a short walk to soak up the early autumnal sun.
  • Practice Ayurveda – you can do this by dry body brushing and performing an oil massage – this improves circulation, relieves tension and removes fatigue. Read more about Ayurveda here.
  • Meditate – spend some time focusing on your breath, or follow along with a guided meditation on YouTube. There are lots of meditations geared towards releasing and letting go for fall. You could then practice some affirmations. Find my favourite morning affirmations here.
  • Read a chapter of a book. Which book you choose is up to you, although you could opt for a fall themed book, and curl up under a blanket to get into the hygge spirit.
  • Write in a journal – journalling is a great way to start your day to ground yourself and bring clarity. If you’re not sure whee to start with your journalling, find some inspiration here.
  • Make a beautiful, nutritious breakfast for yourself. Make it colourful, filling and wholesome to set you up until lunchtime. Enjoy making it, and use it as a time to meditate and be creative.

Time to start your day!

There is my cozy, self care fall morning routine! I hope you’ve found some fall morning inspiration.

Lots of love,
